The estate of Villa di Masseto – Villa Masseto

The estate of Villa di Masseto

The Villa di Masseto estate, located in the small village of Lubaco, consists of 3 main buildings:

  • The Villa, about 1000 square meters
  • The Scuderie about 200 square meters
  • An ancient family Chapel which is still consecrated.

The buildings, all dating back to the 15th century, are surrounded by 6 hectares of grounds that include an olive grove of about 500 olive trees and a forest adjacent to the villa, which also dates back to the time of the construction of the buildings.

The Villa and the Italian garden

After the complete renovation aimed at preserving the ancient structure of the house, Villa di Masseto has been restored to its past 16th century splendor. The particular attention that was paid by the current owners during the two-year renovation has allowed the property to be equipped with all the modern day comforts maintaining, at the same time, the original structure and functionality with ceilings reaching 4 meters high in the sitting rooms and rooms that are over 35 sqm large. Many original 16th century details have also been preserved, such as the ancient stone fireplaces, the terracotta floors, the doors and the paneled ceilings.

The tower and the bathrooms, which were heavily compromised over the years, have been completely and totally renovated and represent the most modern part of the house.

The Villa has also been furnished with care, harmoniously combining antique details and contemporary furnishings.

With its 10 spacious rooms and panoramic views, 9 bathrooms, 2 kitchens and wonderful sitting rooms, the Villa can accommodate up to 20 guests.

Outside, the Villa is surrounded on three sides by a beautiful Italian garden, notified and protected by the Belle Arti as a garden of historical interest. The property is completed by the swimming pool area located on a garden’s lower terrace and two gazebos where you can have lunch and dinner outdoors.

The Scuderie

Within the estate of Villa di Masseto but totally independent, the building called the Scuderi which once housed the farm’s horses. The current structure, restored maintaining its original flavor, today is a spacious house (about 200 square meters) with two large living rooms and three bedrooms as well as two bathrooms.

The terracotta floors, some of which are original, and the large beams were preserved in the last recent restoration which completely modernized the building. The house, which has two floors and can accommodate up to 6 people, has been furnished in the 1950s-60s style with original design pieces of that time.

Next to the building there is a large, fenced park with high trees and a typical row of tuscan Cypresses, which, anyway, let the guests admire the great panorama of the valley, as well as the beautiful swimming pool area. The pool is surrounded by a large wooden platform and a magical, tall bamboo grove. The pool area can be reached by crossing the garden and includes a well equipped space for sun lovers but also many shaded areas.

To complete the property, there is an area dedicated to al fresco dining under a large gazebo and a relaxing area located in the shade of a centuries-old tree.
